Md Shahabuddin Khan, bpm(bar) Additional Inspector General (Addl. IG), Bangladesh Police was born and raised in a renowned family in Bagerhat District. He joined Bangladesh Police in 1991 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 12th special BCS securing 3rd position in merit list through Public Service Commission. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in law. Later on, he completed Masters in Business Administration (MBA) & PhD on “Crime Prevention & Social Changes: Bangladesh perspective.”

In his professional endeavor, he served in various capacities & responsibilities of Bangladesh Police. He worked as Superintendent of Police at Bhola, Kishoreganj, Sylhet and Feni District, Deputy Police Commissioner at Dhaka Metropolitan Police, AIG (Training) at Police Headquarters. Mr. Faqrul also served as a Commanding officer of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-3); the elite force of Bangladesh Police. As Deputy Inspector General (DIG) he served at Special Branch (SB) and led Railway Police, Highway Police & Tourist Police. Mr. Faqrul also left the marks of professional merit and achieved reputation in international arena by being awared UN medal serving FPU Commandant in UN Peacekeeping Mission in East Timur (UNMIT).

In his distinguished professional carrier, he has been adorned with the award of Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) & President’s Police Medal (PPM), the highest award of Bangladesh Police in recognition of his gallantry and bravery service in Crime Control. He also achieved IGP’s Exemplary Good Service Badge twice in response of his highest professional efficiency & standard.

He has ornamented and flourished himself with various professional training courses both in home & abroad (USA, Malaysia, Nepal, South Africa). Mr. Faqrul extensively travels both home & abroad; also takes interest in reading.

In his personal life he is married and blessed with a son and a daughter.
